LAS VEGAS – The worldwide leader in Muay Thai is headed to Italy to launch the European leg of its ambitious event schedule exclusively on UFC Fight Pass the world’s leading streaming service for combat sports.
LION FIGHT returns to Rosolini, Sicily, and the spectacular Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi for Lion Fight 67, with a pair of sensational World title bouts topping the card. In the main event, Italy’s own superstar Enrico “The Fog” Carrara defends his Lion Fight World Light Heavyweight title for the first time as he faces Hungarian heavy hitter Patrik Vidakovics. The co-main event will see America’s ultra-elite Muay Thai standout and Lion Fight’s undefeated World Cruiserweight champion Chip “The Surgeon” Moraza-Pollard put his belt on the line for the eighth time as he faces Jakub Benko.
“There is no better way to kick off our European schedule – our first European shows on UFC Fight Pass as well – than to have a pair of World title fights and those fights featuring Enrico Carrara and Chip Moraza-Pollard,” said LION FIGHT CEO Scott Kent.
“Lion Fight has made a concerted effort to showcase the world’s best Muay Thai talent inside our ring. To do that now in tandem with the powerful worldwide reach of UFC Fight Pass is really amazing. Our fans and Muay Thai fans globally will all now be able see what Lion Fight means when it comes to a showcase event, especially in such a spectacular venue in Sicily.”
Champions Carrara and Moraza-Pollard top Lion Fight 67
Two of Lion Fight most-prominent World champions share the spotlight in respective title defenses as Lion Fight 67 arrives in Rosolini, Sicily, Italy.
Italy’s own Enrico “The Fog” Carrara, fighting in front of his legion of hometown fans, engages in his first World Light Heavyweight title defense as he takes on Patrik Vidakovics. Carrara (57-4-2) is a perfect 3-0 inside the Lion Fight ring, culminating with claiming the World championship at a special edition of Road to Lion Fight last August. Carrara captured the title with a terrific outing and knockout stoppage over Giannis Sofokleus. Prior to that, Carrara took care of business with thorough victories over both Alex Bublea and Heriberto Tovar. But Carrara’s first title defense is sure to be his toughest bout yet under the Lion Fight banner as he faces Vidakovics, who hails from Baja, Hungary. The 28-year-old Vidakovics (51-19) is a former amateur world champion as well as a multi-time national and European champion. He has won four of his last five bouts, including a pair of knockouts in China.
Lion Fight’s undefeated and undisputed World Cruiserweight champ Chip “The Surgeon” Moraza-Pollard (11-0) won his title at Lion Fight 37 with a stellar performance against American rival Paul Banasiak. Since then, the Plymouth, Massachusetts, product has rattled off seven successful defenses highlighted by a TKO victory over Remy Vectol at Lion Fight 47, a dominant showcase in a unanimous decision verdict over Juan Cervantes at Lion Fight 51, and a hard-earned split-decision victory against Kongjak Po Baoin at Lion Fight 56. Standing across from the champion will be perhaps the most dangerous opponent he has faced yet. Jakub Benko (41-19) has registered 23 knockout victories on his resume and is a multi-time past World and European champion. Amongst numerous other honors, the native of Bratislava, Slovakia, was awarded the Australian Muay Thai Fight of the Year in 2018.
In a featured women’s flyweight bout, social media and ring entrance diva Andy “The CrAsian” Nguyen will aim to pick up from where she left off in her last outing. Nguyen, who fights out of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA, flashed a vastly improved skillset at Lion Fight 64 and notched a dominant unanimous decision victory over rival Crystal Van Wyk. The combat sports veteran will face a Lion Fight newcomer in Sonia Dinh of Switzerland.
Three additional main-card bouts will be announced shortly.
Lion Fight 67 is promoted in partnership with Evolution Fight/Fight1.
Lion Fight 66 takes place this Friday – May 21st – live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT USA / 11:30 p.m. GMT headlined by Lion Fight’s undefeated double-champion Steve “Put ’Em To Sleep” Walker defending his North American Super Cruiserweight title against challenger Devorius Tubbs.
