FERNANDEZ COMING FOR PIRNIE’S WORLD TITLE

Venturing into enemy territory for her shot at Lion Fight glory hasn’t fazed Lara Fernandez one bit.

The Spanish star feels more than ready to challenge, and potentially dethrone, reigning Women’s Super Flyweight champion Amy Pirnie at Lion Fight 68 – the main event showdown with the title on the line in Pirnie’s home town of Glasgow, Scotland. That bout headlines the Sunday, August 22 card airing live worldwide exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.

With her final training sessions near completion, Fernandez talked about her shot at the Lion Fight World title:

Q: What would winning the Lion Fight Women’s World Super Flyweight title mean to you?

A: I think if I win, it will be a big step for me in my career. It’s all there – a good opponent, a good show, and a good title.

Q: Where do you think you have an edge over Amy?

A: We are very different fighters. Maybe in my boxing.

Q: What should fans be watching for when it comes to your debut on UFC Fight Pass?

A: I think my best attribute in the ring is the way I move and my stamina.

Q: You get your shot at the title in the champion’s home town. Does that makes more difficult for you?

A: Being in her home town is not uncomfortable for me. It probably makes me feel more relaxed. I don’t mind the place where I fight. I just want to fight.
