CARRARA CLAIMS WORLD TITLE AT ROAD TO LION FIGHT ITALY


There's nothing like winning in front of your fans.

Enrico "The Fog" Carrara is the new Lion Fight World Light Heavyweight champion, earning the title in front of a partisan crowd of his supporters in Rosolini, Italy. Carrara capped Road to Lion Fight Italy with a second-round knockout victory over Giannis Sofokleus.

Carrara (57-4-2) caught Sofokleus with an elbow in Round 1 that drew the attention of the ringside physician, but the fight was allowed to continue. Carrara's domination was relentless in Round 2 particularly with more elbow strikes, and at the end of the frame, the Greek's corner decided to stop the bout.

"We are delighted to have Enrico as our new Light Heavyweight champion. He's an exceptional fighter and a quality person as well," said Lion Fight CEO Scott Kent.

"Enrico is the kind of champion that deserves all of the accolades and the big fights ahead of him."


The joint promotion with Evolution Fight also featured a Road to Lion Fight tournament took place in the lightweight division with the winner receiving a multi-fight contract with Lion Fight and a future bout in the United States.

In the semifinal round, Nicola Mammini took out Davide Congiu just 1:47 into Round 1 due to a medical stoppage. The second semi saw Roberto Oliva earn a unanimous decision verdict against Anthony Camilo.

The final belonged to Oliva, who scored a knockout win at 2:05 of Round 1.

"It was a great performance by Roberto," said Bruno Botindari, Lion Fight's partner promoter in Italy. "He showed great technique and will for sure be one of the best Italian fighters in the future."
