Mims mines multi-fight deal after knockout victory at Lion Fight 38

Fresh off his spectacular second-round knockout win last week, middleweight Cris Mims has agreed to a multi-fight contract with Lion Fight Promotions.

The Foley, Alabama, product made his professional debut at Lion Fight 38 held on Friday, September 29th at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, and he rose to the occasion while taking on local fan favorite Brian Bogue. After a well-contested opening round that saw both fighters do their fair share of damage, Mims broke away from a clinch and cracked Bogue with a spinning elbow to the side of the head. Bogue dropped with a thud to the canvas and barely wobbled back up to his feet, but referee Tom Sconzo called a halt to the bout 25 seconds into the second round (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s379usrJ-ls 1:39 mark).

“I’m very excited to sign with Lion Fight,” said Mims, who might have to consider changing his nickname from ‘The Golden Leg’ to ‘The Electric Elbow.’

“I look forward to showcasing myself and growing my skills on these amazing shows.”

Mims joins a growing list of established and rising stars who have all recently signed multi-fight deals, including cruiserweight champion Chip “The Surgeon” Moraza-Pollard, super cruiserweight sensation Steve “Put Em To Sleep” Walker, lightweight knockout specialist Jafar “The Cookie Monster” Toshev, and others.

Lion Fight returns on Saturday, November 18th as the promotion debuts in England with partner Muay Thai Grand Prix for Lion Fight 39 live from The Indigo at O2 Arena in London. Headlining the card is Chip Moraza-Pollard as he puts his Lion Fight cruiserweight title on the line and vies for the vacant MTGP cruiserweight title against England’s own Jordan Smith.
