From falling in love with Muay Thai by watching Jean-Claude Van Damme movies to now fighting on the biggest Muay Thai stage in North America, Amadeu Cristiano’s career has pretty well come full circle.
But there is one monumental achievement still awaiting him. He can make it happen at Lion Fight 35 coming up on Friday, March 3 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
Cristiano has certainly racked up several significant victories and accolades throughout this career. At Lion Fight 35, he has the chance to knock off a legend when he stands across the ring from former Lumpinee Stadium champion and Thai icon Naruepol Fairtex. Their bout is a featured clash on the main card that will air live on AXS TV Fights in the United States and throughout Canada, Africa, Europe and the Middle East on Fight Network.
The Brazilian star has a straightforward game plan set for defeating Naruepol and getting the signature win of his career.
“He is a great fighter. A very experienced and a real legend, but I am going to fight and go for the attack,” said Cristiano, a native of Sao Paolo who now makes his home in Boston, Massachusetts.
Cristiano, who listed straight punches and knees as his best weapons, is a six-time Phetchbuncha Stadium champion, and also earned lofty credentials with several other organization including the 2016 Epic Muay Thai championship and multiple tournament victories. But having his hand raised against an illustrious opponent of Naruepol’s stature would be the shining moment of an already prized career.
“I am happy to fight here for Lion Fight which I have watched many times,” said Cristiano.
“I saw many Thai champions fighting for this promotion and it always caught my eye. I’m happy to fight for it now and take part in the event.”
The Naruepol/Crisitano showdown is part of the Lion Fight 35 card topped by a pair of title fights. In the main event, two-division champion “Smokin” Jo Nattawut defends his super welterweight crown against Thai legend Kengsiam Nor Sripueng. And in the co-main event, reigning women’s lightweight queen Antonina “The Panther” Shevchenko puts her belt on the line against challenger Magali Foroni of France.
